Marching Band Course Information
This ensemble is open to all brass and percussion musicians by tryout. Brass and percussion instruments are available for student use at no charge. Marching Band meets only in the autumn semester, with a report in early-mid August for tryouts and rehearsals and potential postseason performances through January.
In order to be in the Marching Band, you must be enrolled for the class through BuckeyeLink.
Course number: 2205.01
Athletic Band Course Information
The Ohio State University Athletic Band is open to all woodwind, brass and percussion musicians, and does not require an audition. (An audition is required for students who wish to be part of the subset of Athletic Band that plays at men's basketball games in the spring.) Athletic Band is a course during both the autumn and spring semesters.
Brass and percussion instruments are available for student use at no charge. Unfortunately, we do not provide woodwind instruments or accessories, but if this presents a challenge, please let us know.
To participate, you must register for the class through BuckeyeLink.
Course number: 2205.02
Incoming Freshman
If you are an incoming freshman, you are required to schedule at orientation; we suggest registering for the class at that time if you are planning on trying out for the band (course number 2205.01).
In the event that you are not selected through the tryout process, you will need to go to your advisor to have the class removed from your schedule. If you are not participating in the course and have not removed this course from your schedule, it will result in a failing grade.
Regional Campus Students
If are attending a regional Ohio State Campus, you can still tryout and register for the OSUMB. Please note that you are required to be on the Columbus campus for all rehearsals and events.
