Announcers and Adjunct Staff
Staff Assistant/Announcer: David Carwile
Dave Carwile is a familiar voice to radio listeners in central Ohio, following a long career in radio and television. Dave is currently an Associate Director of the WOSU Stations on campus, working on projects such as WOSU’s new media center at COSI. A native of Worthington, Ohio, Dave played percussion in The Ohio State University Marching Band from 1975 to 1979, has served as the band’s videoboard designer since 1984 and added the duties of primary announcer and scriptwriter in 1997. He resides in Worthington with his wife Kathleen and son James.
Announcer: Dave Kaylor
Dave Kaylor is a familiar face in Central Ohio, having recently retired after 25 years as news anchor for Columbus' WBNS 10-TV Eyewitness News. A native of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, Dave played bass drum in The Ohio State University Marching Band from 1962 to 1967 and was percussion section squad leader in 1966-67. Dave has served as a band announcer since 1985.
Field Photographer: Ed Crockett
Ed Crockett has served as The Ohio State University Marching Band's field photographer since the 1977 season. Ed also fills in as announcer when necessary and is the advisor for the marching band's web site. A native of the Cincinnati suburb of Sharonville, Ed was a sousaphone player in the OSUMB from 1968 to 1970 and from 1972 to 1974. He served one season as student photographer and two seasons as assistant public address announcer before assuming his duties as photographer. He resides in Columbus with his wife, Karen, and his youngest son A.J.
Press Box Photographer: Karen Crockett
Karen Crockett joined husband Ed on the OSUMB photography team in 1979. Karen is a former member of The Ohio State University Marching Band serving as secretary and librarian from 1972 to 1977. A native of Medina, Ohio, Karen is on the faculty of the OSU College of Human Ecology and resides in Columbus with husband Ed and youngest son A.J.
Audio Producer/Recording Engineer: Ed Thompson
Ed Thompson is in his fourth season as recording producer and engineer for The Ohio State University Marching Band. A native of Lancaster, Ohio, Ed was a member of the sousaphone section of The Ohio State University Marching Band from 1974 to 1977. Ed resides in Lancaster with his wife Kris and his dog Ted.
Physical Therapist: Pam Bork
Pam Bork is in her twelfth season as physical therapist for The Ohio State University Marching Band. Pam is currently employed as the Senior Physical Therapist at the Wilce Student Health Center on campus.
Band Secretary: Tom Cook
Tom Cook has been with the Marching Band since 2004 and has been a staff member in the School of Music since 1987. Tom was a member of the sousaphone section of the OSUMB in 1970 and 1971. He holds Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Music Education from The Ohio State University and taught instrumental and vocal music for 12 years at Fairbanks Local in Union County and at Hamilton Local in Franklin County. Tom is currently the organist at Linworth United Methodist Church in Worthington. Tom's wife, Marilyn, is a retired budget officer for the OSU School of Music. Tom and Marilyn have two grown sons, Chris and Greg.
